YES! Well, let's begin with the concept that the new Camaro SS has quite a bit of desirable ability. Decently sized body and well designed suspension and a decently sized engine for sure. Enough for some European racing types to chance taking it's beautifully ugly mug and shove it down competitors throats, or at least scare them good in the mirror. So far, the results are pretty nice. Let's continue...
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! competed in the Euro V8 Series, and won. Champions.
Their car uses a 6.3 liter Katech built v8. They are now competing in the Italian v8 series and doing well there. Take some time to drive with them around Monza as they shake down their car and make luscious echoes.
Next up, SaReNi, a GERMAN racing outfit and Reiter Engineering decided to make a gentleman's racing car out of the Camaro. Hans Reiter's idea is along the lines of GT racing a "Men's car". Their words not mine. In their own GT3 trim, it generates over 650hp from Katech built 7.9 liters.
On the SaReNi website, feel free to buy the hood, OZ wheels and their developed road racing suspension. Take a spin with them around Monza as well.
SaReNi has achieved quite a bit of progress with this car. According to the Katech website, "In 2011 they were able to attain numerous victories in the; DAC GT Masters, Brazil GT3, ASIA GT3 and Spanish GT Championship." Now, obviously these teams and drivers are competing in a sort of gentlemen's series where they can still be quite serious but not try to break in to the world stage. There are factory budgets for that sort of thing.
All of these efforts have been privateer funded work. The only factory involvement are things trickled over from the Corvette teams as well as the Katech engine builders, who build the factory Corvette engines so theres reliable good power there. But the rest, comes from private experimentation. It would be nice to see somewhere the Camaro can play as a factory backed piece of engineering and not have to compete directly for attention with it's sexy girl cousin, the Corvette.

There is a factory built Camaro. The Z28.R, which races in the GS class of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge.
It's also important to note that the Corvette Z06.R GT3s in the ADAC GT Masters are not factory cars, rather they're built by Callaway.

And from some video I have seen, they kinda have the upper hand on the Camaro, wich I think is why YACO racing went back to Audi R's recently but who knows, it could have to do with their young female driver sponsors.
The Continental series Z28 is, like the others in that series, lightly breathed on normal car. It's a great series too.

Probably so, and I don't see anything about it over here. Chevrolet should use footage, use data, show us it's good everywhere for everything not just drag racing and burnouts that the regular public grew up believing it to be.

With Ford's stab at the global market Mustang coming up, maybe Chevy'll spread the Z/28 love over there someday *shrug*I dunno, Chevy and Ford seem too intertwined to let one rest comfortably in another market solo

That probably has to do with the Z06.R GT3 being a more mature and developed race car.
